Every year an event called the “VHI Women’s Mini-Marathon” is held for women to run a 10k race, raising awareness and funding for the charities of their choice. We had eleven women, including Katy, decide to run on behalf of Zoe Community! It was a fun day for the ladies promoting Zoe and building camaraderie in our volunteer team. They met together beforehand, cheered each other one as they raced, and had a fun lunch afterward to celebrate.
This was a big deal for us for several reasons, but one you might not realise is related to fundraising. We don’t know exactly how much will come in for Zoe quite yet (we know one of the ladies raised over €1,000), but this was the first group event where Irish people raised money directly for Zoe! From day one, it has been a goal of ours for Zoe to someday become 100% funded through Irish support. While we’ve been working on an overall support strategy that will launch in the next few months, this race marks the first public fundraising event initiated and led by Irish volunteers!
We celebrate each woman who ran for their efforts to help Zoe Community. We thank God for leading us into the beginning stages of this longterm dream. And we want to thank YOU. Without you, there would be no Zoe, no volunteers, no ladies running, and no guests being helped. God has used you to set the foundation of all He will do through Zoe Community in years to come. Thank you!
