Students for Christ Dublin

I mentioned before that we have some great things ahead. Coming quickly is our first event ever as Students for Christ (SFC) Dublin…"An Alternative Christmas Carol."

One of the many great people we've been privileged to meet over the past few months is Julian Hamilton (Jools), the Methodist Chaplain at Trinity College Dublin. We've had many coffees with Jools discussing life and ministry in Dublin. He's been a good friend and a source of wisdom for us.

Through a series of conversations sharing our mutual vision to make a difference in the lives of university students in Dublin, Jools, Katy, and I decided we should put together a Christmas service designed to spark conversations between Christian and non-Christian students at Trinity College.

The carol service will be Wednesday night, 12th of December at 7:00pm in the chapel at Trinity College Dublin. It's so exciting to be partnering with Jools and others in what God is doing at Trinity College Dublin. Please pray with us for a successful evening, sparking a conversations about Jesus.

Thank you for all your prayers and support. Together, we're moving into some very exciting days!

Thanksgiving in Ireland

It was our first Thanksgiving in Ireland. Here's a few things we're thankful for:

  • We are thankful to have had my (Blake's) parents in town for the entire week of Thanksgiving.
  • We are thankful for lovely weather to show my parents around Dublin.
  • We are thankful my parents got to meet so many of our great friends here in Dublin.
  • We are thankful for the students that were able to join us for Thanksgiving dinner.

We are also so thankful that God put an amazing team of supporters together. Thank you for all you do. Your prayers and support have been so important to our first 8 months here. Time to listen to Christmas music!

Lemme Help

I recently had a cup of coffee with a man named Joe. Professor Joe McDonagh is the Director of Doctoral Studies in the school of business at Trinity College Dublin.

My conversation with this brilliant man was encouraging and challenging, but what stuck out to me was a simple comment. He said, "God is doing something at Trinity College Dublin." The goal of our ministry in Dublin is not to begin a new work reaching university students. Our goal is to simply join in what God's already doing to reach university students.

Many times we as believers fall into the trap of thinking we are doing something that couldn't be done without us. FALSE! We are privileged to be included in the salvation process for humanity.

We GET to play a part. We are the little kid who gets to "help" mom in the kitchen. God will use us to do amazing things, far beyond what we could accomplish on our own. But in the end, it is God that performs the miracles and it is God that gets the glory. Period.

God is doing something at Trinity College Dublin and in universities all across this city. In the next month or two I'll be posting about specific doors God has opened for Katy and I. I'm always excited to show you the cake in the oven that, together, we are "helping" to bake.
