Blake and Katy: Marriage Counseling

Let me begin by saying that our marriage is great. It's probably better than it ever has been. Are we perfect? No. That is why we went to see a counselor. (Sorry if the title implied marriage trouble. Gotta love a good hook. Haha.)

The past three years living in Ireland have been some of the best, hardest, funniest, worst, weirdest days of our lives. We've switched cultures, left family, had a baby away from 'home', etc. These things can be incredibly taxing on a relationship. In fact, there's a lot of strain that we don't even realize is there! So, to set ourselves up for success in the longterm, to keep our marriage awesome, and to ensure Eden has a healthy home to grow up in...we saw a marriage counselor. It was a great experience. In fact, we decided to keep going on a monthly basis for a while.

If you're married (or engaged), let me strongly  suggest you try it. We don't wait until the car breaks down to change the oil. Don't wait until there's trouble to see a counselor. Pastoral counseling is wonderful and important. But a good professional counselor has particular tools and training to bring things out of you and your relationship. When trouble inevitably comes, you'll be in a great position as a couple, trusting God to walk you through whatever may come.

Just a random thought from the Edgmon's. Thank you for all your prayers and support. We love you all and can't wait to see what the next few months holds!
