Happy Birthday Eden!

Eden turned a year old on Saturday! His interpretation goes like this: 

“First, there were all these people eating burgers around me...all I wanted to do was take a nap and have some juice. Next, they convinced me to stand up and walk to Mommy. Pretty cavalier with my safety, wouldn’t you say? Anyway, I succumbed to peer pressure and took a few steps for the first time ever. Mommy seemed pretty excited. Then, out of nowhere, they shove this flaming thing called “cake” in my face. Daddy extinguished the fire, so at least THAT crisis was averted. Then they stared at me while I poked it. They expected me to eat it, so I did. Oh man did I ever eat it. It was the best thing I ever put in my mouth! Better than the remote! Or Mommy’s phone! Yeah, I took that “cake” down. By the way, if you see any, let me have it because I kinda need some more now.”

He’s an amazing kid. We love this little guy and had the best time with him at his party!

Home Sweet Home

Mice have their nooks, bears have caves, and Hobbits have their Hobbit Holes. I think we all have the need to know that, at the end of the day, there’s a place where we’ve hung our pictures on the wall and things are familiar. 

As relatively new people to this culture, we feel the need for this experience more than ever. At the end of this month, the lease is up at our current apartment and we are needing to move somewhere with a bit more room. Babies take up more space than you’d think. So far, the house hunt has been a bit discouraging - the places in our budget are either taken before we can put our name in or they are too far away from the places we do ministry. On top of that, there was a house that we fell in love with but someone else made a better deal on it. We ended up eating a lot of carbs to compensate...not proud of that one. 

The renting market here in Dublin is pretty cutthroat. We are starting to feel pressure to be as aggressive as we can to find a new home. This has caused us to fall for the fear that we alone are responsible for obtaining our needs. What we know we need right now is prayer from you, our team. 

1. Please pray that we will trust God.  
2. Pray for smooth going with logistics of moving our stuff (our yearly Connect conference falls on the first of August) and the financial stress associated with moving. 
3. Pray for a place where we can feel at home that’s within our budget and close enough to town.

Katy's Blog

Katy and I have been blogging for over three years now. We try to balance keeping you up-to-date with ministry, family, and spiritual stuff. The feedback always received encouraging feedback, particularly with the blogs that Katy writes. In fact, I was recently told, "Katy's blogs are better than yours." I could not agree more. Haha. My wife is hilarious, wise, and eloquent.

Over the past few months dozens of people reading Katy's Facebook posts have commented that she should start a blog, expounding on her brilliant and humorous thoughts. Well, I'm happy to announce that today is the day.
