SFC Europe Prayer Weekend

Every year in January, Students for Christ (SFC) staff from all over Europe gathers together in community and prayer. The weekend is filled with personal prayer, group prayer over each SFC ministry in Europe, an annual business meeting, and a bit of fun as well. It’s quick but very powerful.

Here are a few highlights from this year’s prayer weekend, held in Granada, Spain.

• Spending time with and praying over SFC friends that we only get to see once or twice per year.
• Making new friends. This year we met new SFC leaders from Italy, Holland, and Greece.
• Katy and I feel so encouraged and empowered after being prayed over. We are ready for the coming semester!

As we return to Dublin and begin another great semester, we are believing for God for open doors, new relationships with students, and fruit in the lives of our students. 

Together we are helping to connect students for Christ. Thank you.

Into the Unknown

Once again, we’re entering in to a new semester in Dublin. All of the colleges around town begin lectures and exams at different times, but there is a freshness in the air as Christmas holidays have come to a close and assignments the students have been working on during the break are due to be turned in (yes, most of them continue to work hard during their break).

As for the three of us, we’re very excited to be getting back to spending time with the students and growing together in faith. Each year brings things with it that feel incredibly daunting. Some of these things are real, some are made up in our own heads, and some are lies from Satan and are targeted at our insecurities.

We definitely feel insecure about our purpose in ministry. News flash: every Christian does. We know we’re not alone in that respect. More specifically, we feel the need to know what we should do in the future...where our next steps should be. This thinking, however, is definitely not faith. It is fear masquerading as the drive to have a plan. Planning is great, don’t get me wrong. It is the fear driving the planning that makes it ineffective. So to begin this year, let’s let go of fear and choose faith instead.

2014 Top 5

Here are five things we are praying to see in 2014.

• More connections with students.
• Wisdom in the direction of our ministry.
• Increased laborers.
• Health.
• Quality time with family as Eden grows and grows and grows.
